Citalin 5 mg Tablet is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant. It works by increasing the levels of serotonin, a chemical messenger in the brain. This improves mood and physical symptoms in depression and relieves symptoms of panic and obsessive disorders.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. ciTAlin 5 Tablet may be taken with or without food.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of ciTAlin 5 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Taking more Citalin-5 mg than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Citalin-5 mg are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about every medicine you take, including over-the-counter products, vitamins and herbal or ayurvedic preparations, before starting Citalin-5 mg. Some combinations can change how Citalin-5 mg works or raise the chance of side effects.
Store Citalin-5 mg below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the pack tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.
Take ciTAlin 5 Tablet in the morning since it can keep you awake if taken late at night. Talk to your doctor if you notice sudden mood changes or develop suicidal thoughts. It can take 2-3 weeks for ciTAlin 5 Tablet to start working. Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor first. Stopping the treatment suddenly can also cause upset stomach, flu-like withdrawal symptoms, and sleep disturbance. Some people can develop dizziness or drowsiness after taking this medicine. Do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid consuming alcohol when taking ciTAlin 5 Tablet, as it may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness.
