Skin antiseptic for minor cuts, wounds, abrasions, insect bites and prickly heat; antiseptic cleansing of skin; household disinfection of floors, bathrooms, sinks, drains, laundry and surfaces (as directed).
Chloroxylenol is a broad-spectrum antiseptic that damages microbial cell walls and enzymes, reducing bacteria and some fungi on skin and surfaces. Terpineol and alcohol enhance antimicrobial action and help cleansing.
For external use only. Always dilute before use: for minor wounds/cuts and as skin antiseptic, add a small amount to water and use to clean the area; for bathing/hygiene use dilute in a bucket of water; for household disinfection dilute in water and apply to surfaces/floors then allow contact time before wiping. A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Dettol Antiseptic Liq. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Do not use undiluted on skin. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth and mucous membranes; if contact occurs, rinse with plenty of water. Do not ingest; if swallowed seek medical help/poison control. Stop use if irritation or allergy occurs. Keep away from children. Do not use on large/deep wounds, severe burns or serious skin infections without medical advice. Flammable due to alcohol—keep away from heat/flames.
