Composition of Doxx-L Tablet

Doxx-L Tablet contains Doxycycline (100mg) + Lactic Acid Bacillus (6 Million Spores). It belongs to the Antibacterial agent and Gut protective / probiotic class of medicines.

Uses of Doxx-L Tablet

  • Bacterial infection
  • Gut infection
  • Skin infection
  • Dental infection
  • Digestive problems
  • Loose motions
  • Restoring gut bacteria
  • Stomach protection

Benefits of Doxx-L Tablet

In Bacterial infection
Doxx-L treats the bacterial infection it was prescribed for by killing the bacteria or stopping them multiplying. Finishing the course makes sure the infection does not return.
In Gut infection
Doxx-L clears the bacteria or other organisms causing diarrhoea, abdominal pain and bloating, so the gut settles.
In Skin infection
Doxx-L treats infected skin and soft tissue, bringing down redness, swelling and pain.
In Dental infection
Doxx-L treats infections of the teeth and gums, easing the pain and swelling until your dentist can deal with the cause.
In Digestive problems
Doxx-L relieves the digestive symptom it was prescribed for, whether that is loose motions, cramps, bloating or an unsettled stomach.
In Loose motions
Doxx-L slows the gut or restores its balance, so stools become formed again and the urgency and cramping settle.
In Restoring gut bacteria
Doxx-L replaces the helpful bacteria the gut loses during diarrhoea or a course of antibiotics, helping digestion settle sooner.
In Stomach protection
Doxx-L coats and protects the stomach lining from acid and irritant medicines, easing pain and allowing the lining to heal.

How Doxx-L Tablet works

This medicine combines 2 active ingredients: Doxycycline and Lactobacillus. Doxycycline kills or stops the growth of the bacteria causing your infection. Lactobacillus supports the lining and the natural bacteria of the gut, helping digestion settle back to normal.

How to take Doxx-L Tablet

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, crush or break it unless your doctor has told you to. Take it with or just after food. Taking it at about the same time each day helps you remember. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause vomiting, severe loose motions and nerve symptoms. It may cause bloating and loose motions. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Doxx-L Tablet

Most side effects of Doxx-L are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:

  • Nausea
  • Metallic taste
  • Loose motions
  • Stomach pain
  • Headache
  • Bloating
  • Flatulence
  • Stomach discomfort
  • Constipation

Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Finish the whole course even after you feel better. Do not drink any alcohol while taking metronidazole, ornidazole or tinidazole, or for the period after the course that your doctor states — the combination causes severe flushing, vomiting and a racing heart. Report severe or watery loose motions during or after the course rather than treating them yourself. Tetracyclines stain developing teeth and are avoided in young children and in pregnancy. Antibiotics do not work against colds, flu or most sore throats, which are caused by viruses. Loose motions with high fever, blood in the stool or severe abdominal pain need a doctor, not a home remedy. Oral rehydration salts and fluids matter more than any medicine when you have loose motions — dehydration is the real danger, especially in children and older people. Take a probiotic a couple of hours apart from an antibiotic so the antibiotic does not simply kill it. Do not use an anti-motility medicine such as loperamide if you have a fever or blood in the stool.

Do not take Doxx-L if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Probiotics are used with caution in people whose immune system is significantly suppressed.

Interactions with other medicines

Antacids, iron, zinc and calcium reduce the absorption of tetracyclines — separate them by a couple of hours. Tell your doctor if you take a blood thinner. Antibiotics reduce the effect of probiotics taken at the same time.

How to store Doxx-L Tablet

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Some probiotic preparations ask to be refrigerated — follow the pack. Keep out of the reach of children.

Quick tips for Doxx-L Tablet

  • Space the doses evenly and complete the course.
  • Take tetracyclines with a full glass of water and stay upright for half an hour afterwards.
  • Never use a leftover antibiotic, or someone else's, for a new illness.
  • Keep up fluids and oral rehydration salts.
  • Return to a normal diet as soon as you can manage it.
