How Drez Ointment works

Drez S Ointment is a combination of three medicines: Povidone Iodine, Tinidazole and Sucralfate. Povidone Iodine is an antiseptic. It slowly releases iodine which kills or prevents the growth of infectious microorganisms. Tinidazole is an antibiotic. It kills the bacteria and other microorganisms that cause infections by damaging their DNA. Sucralfate is protectant which covers the damaged tissue and protects it against injury to facilitate healing.

How to take Drez Ointment

Use as directed by physician or as per label. Apply a thin layer to the affected area (external use) unless prescribed otherwise.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Drez S Ointment, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine is unlikely from skin use, but swallowing an antiseptic is dangerous and needs immediate medical attention. It can cause vomiting, severe loose motions and nerve symptoms. It may cause bloating and loose motions. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Drez are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

It may take several weeks to show its action. Keep using it as suggested by your doctor. Do not share your towel or clothes with anyone and wear clean clothes every day to prevent infection.
