Ofloxacin 200 mg + Ornidazole 500 mg (tablet)
Treatment of mixed bacterial and protozoal infections, especially acute infectious diarrhoea, dysentery, gastroenteritis, and other gastrointestinal infections where both bacteria and amoebiasis/giardiasis are suspected
Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase/topoisomerase IV, stopping bacterial DNA replication. Ornidazole is a nitroimidazole that forms reactive metabolites in anaerobic/protozoal cells, damaging DNA and leading to cell death.
Take by mouth as prescribed by a doctor, usually after food to reduce stomach upset. Swallow whole with water; complete the full course even if symptoms improve. Avoid taking with antacids/iron/zinc/calcium supplements within 2 hours before or after the dose.

A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Floxant-Oz Tab. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Prescription-only medicine. Not recommended in pregnancy unless clearly needed; avoid breastfeeding or consult doctor. Use with caution in kidney or liver disease, epilepsy/seizure disorders, history of tendon disorders, and in elderly. Fluoroquinolones may cause tendonitis/tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, CNS effects, and QT prolongation; stop and seek medical help if tendon pain, numbness/tingling, severe dizziness, palpitations, rash, or severe diarrhoea occurs. Avoid excessive sunlight/UV exposure (photosensitivity risk). Not for viral diarrhoea; ensure hydration and medical evaluation if blood in stools, high fever, or dehydration.
