Fusidic acid 2% w/w ointment
Treatment of bacterial skin infections such as impetigo, infected dermatitis/eczema, folliculitis, infected cuts/wounds and minor skin infections caused by susceptible bacteria (commonly Staphylococcus).
Fusidic acid is a topical antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by blocking elongation factor G (EF-G). This stops growth and helps clear susceptible skin bacteria.
For external use only. Clean and dry the affected area, then apply a thin layer to the infected skin 2-3 times daily or as directed by a doctor. Can be covered with a light dressing if advised; wash hands before and after application. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth and inside nose unless prescribed.
Common side effects of FUSI OINT 5GMS may include:
Use only on affected skin and for the prescribed duration; prolonged use may lead to resistance or overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms. Stop and seek medical advice if severe irritation, swelling, blistering or allergic reaction occurs. Avoid use on large areas or under occlusive dressings unless advised. Do not use for fungal/viral skin infections. Use caution in infants and on broken/large wounded areas; consult doctor.
