Fusiwin Cream 5 g contains Fusidic acid 2% w/w cream (20 mg/g). It belongs to the Steroidal antibiotic (Fusidane class) class of medicines.

How Fusiwin Cream 5 g works

Fusidic acid is a topical antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by preventing translocation on the ribosome (via elongation factor G). This stops growth of susceptible bacteria, particularly Staphylococcus species, helping clear skin infection.

How to take Fusiwin Cream 5 g

For external use only. Clean and dry the affected area, then apply a thin layer 2–3 times daily or as prescribed. Use for the full duration advised; avoid contact with eyes, mouth and inside nose unless directed. Wash hands before and after application.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Apply it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for the next application, skip the missed one — applying extra does not make up for it.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine is unlikely from skin use. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Fusiwin are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

In infants/children use only on medical advice.

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for use in or around the eyes.

Store below 25°C, protect from heat and direct light. Keep tube tightly closed and out of reach of children.
