Glizid Total P 15 Tablet SR is a combination of three antidiabetic medicines: Gliclazide, Pioglitazone and Metformin. They work by different mechanisms to provide better control of blood sugar when single or dual therapy is not effective. Gliclazide is a sulfonylurea which works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas in order to lower the blood glucose. Pioglitazone is a thiazolidinedione which increases insulin sensitivity. Metformin is a biguanide. It works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying glucose absorption from intestines and further increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin.

How to take Glizid Total P 7.5 mg Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Glizid Total P 15 Tablet SR should be taken with or after food.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Glizid Total P 15 Tablet SR, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

You should continue to exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet, and take your other diabetes medicines along with Glizid Total P 15 Tablet SR. Take it with food to lower your chance of having an upset stomach. Monitor your blood sugar level regularly while you are taking this medicine. It may cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol or if you delay or miss a meal. Always carry some sugary food or fruit juice with you in case you experience hypoglycemic symptoms such as cold sweats, cool pale skin, tremor, and anxiety. Your doctor may check your liver function regularly. Inform your doctor if you develop symptoms such as abdominal pain, loss of appetite, or yellowing of the eyes or skin (jaundice).
