Levofloxacin 250 mg
Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections (acute bacterial sinusitis, acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, pneumonia), urinary tract infections (including complicated UTI and pyelonephritis), prostatitis, skin and soft tissue infections, and certain gastrointestinal infections as advised by a doctor.
Levofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing DNA replication and repair, leading to bacterial cell death.
Tablet for oral use. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily; swallow whole with water. Can be taken with or without food, but avoid taking together with antacids or supplements containing iron, zinc, magnesium, aluminium, or calcium (keep at least 2 hours gap before or after). Complete the full course even if you feel better.

Prescription-only antibiotic; use only for bacterial infections. Stop and seek medical help if tendon pain/swelling occurs (risk of tendinitis/tendon rupture higher in elderly and with steroids), severe allergic reaction, severe diarrhoea, or symptoms of neuropathy (tingling/numbness). May cause dizziness—avoid driving if affected. Use with caution in epilepsy/seizure disorders, myasthenia gravis, kidney impairment (dose adjustment may be needed), diabetes (may cause hypo/hyperglycaemia), and in those at risk of QT prolongation/arrhythmias. Avoid excessive sunlight/UV exposure due to photosensitivity. Not recommended for children/adolescents unless specifically advised.
