Medically reviewed by Dr. Balaji Krishnan, MBBS · Updated September 2026
Pacimol Active Tablet contains Caffeine(50.0 Mg)+Paracetamol / Acetaminophen(650.0 Mg). It belongs to the Methylxanthine stimulant and Para-aminophenol derivative class of medicines.
This medicine combines 2 active ingredients: Caffeine and Paracetamol. Caffeine is added to a painkiller to help it start working sooner and work a little better. It is a mild stimulant and does not relieve pain by itself. Paracetamol reduces fever and relieves pain by acting on the parts of the brain that regulate temperature and register pain.
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, crush or break it unless your doctor has told you to. Take it with or after food. Taking it at about the same time each day helps you remember. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.
An overdose of this medicine can cause a racing heart, tremor, vomiting and agitation. It can cause severe and sometimes fatal liver damage, often with no symptoms at all for the first day. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Most side effects of Pacimol Active are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
| Pregnancy | Use with caution in pregnancy. Your doctor will weigh the benefit to you against the risk to the baby. |
|---|---|
| Breastfeeding | Use with caution while breastfeeding; watch the baby for any unusual symptoms. |
| Alcohol | Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine. |
| Driving | Not expected to affect your ability to drive. |
| Kidney | Use with caution if you have kidney disease — your doctor may adjust the dose or monitor your kidney function. |
| Liver | Consult your doctor if you have liver disease. |
| Habit forming | No |
Count your tea, coffee and cola for the day — the caffeine in this medicine adds to them. Taken late in the day it can keep you awake. Painkillers with caffeine taken most days can themselves cause a daily headache. If you are reaching for them more than twice a week, see a doctor rather than taking more. Never exceed the daily maximum printed on the pack. Paracetamol overdose damages the liver, and the damage can be silent for a day or two before it becomes serious. Check every other medicine you are taking. Paracetamol is in a very large number of cold, flu and pain combinations, and the doses add together. If you drink alcohol regularly, or have liver disease, ask your doctor what daily limit is safe for you. See a doctor if fever lasts more than three days, or pain more than five.
Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for anyone with an uncontrolled heart rhythm problem, unless a doctor has said otherwise. Not for people with severe liver disease, except under medical supervision.
Tell your doctor if you take medicines for asthma, a heart rhythm problem, or an antibiotic of the ciprofloxacin family — caffeine lasts longer alongside some of them. Regular alcohol use increases the risk of liver injury. Tell your doctor if you are on warfarin — regular high-dose paracetamol can affect it.
Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
Avoid taking it in the evening if it disturbs your sleep. Cutting down suddenly after taking it daily can itself cause a headache for a day or two. Take the lowest dose that works, and leave the stated gap between doses. Seek help immediately after a suspected overdose, even if you feel completely well — treatment works best when it is early.
