Pantoprazole 40 mg (as Pantoprazole Sodium) tablet
Treatment of acid reflux (GERD), heartburn, erosive esophagitis, peptic/duodenal ulcers; prevention/treatment of NSAID-induced ulcers; part of H. pylori eradication therapy with antibiotics; Zollinger–Ellison syndrome (excess stomach acid).
Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that irreversibly blocks the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme (proton pump) in stomach parietal cells. This reduces gastric acid secretion and relieves acidity-related symptoms while allowing ulcers/erosions to heal.
Take by mouth as advised by a doctor, usually once daily. Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew. Best taken 30–60 minutes before food (preferably before breakfast).
Common side effects of PANTRITIS 40 TAB may include:
Long-term or high-dose use may increase risk of low magnesium, vitamin B12 deficiency, bone fractures, and gut infections (e.g., C. difficile diarrhea). Seek medical help for alarm symptoms: blood in vomit/black stools, unexplained weight loss, persistent vomiting, difficulty swallowing, severe abdominal pain. Use with caution in severe liver disease; may cause false-positive tests (e.g., chromogranin A). Do not self-use for prolonged periods without medical advice.
