How Pegclear Powder works

Polyethylene glycol 3350 is an osmotic laxative that retains water in the stool. This increases stool water content, softens stools and promotes bowel movements with less straining.

How to take Pegclear Powder

Oral powder to be dissolved in water/juice and taken as directed by physician or as per label. Commonly taken once daily; can be taken with or without food. Ensure adequate fluid intake; do not take the dry powder directly.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Pegclear 8.5gm Powder, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause severe loose motions, dehydration and salt imbalance. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Pegclear Powder

Most side effects of Pegclear are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Do not use in suspected/known bowel obstruction, severe abdominal pain, vomiting, or if you have inflammatory bowel disease unless advised by a doctor. Stop and seek medical help if severe diarrhoea, rectal bleeding, persistent/worsening abdominal pain, or no improvement after several days. Use with caution in kidney disease, electrolyte imbalance, dehydration, and in elderly; prolonged use should be under medical supervision.

Do not take Pegclear if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for anyone with a suspected bowel obstruction, or with severe abdominal pain of unknown cause.

Interactions with other medicines

Other oral medicines (separate by at least 2 hours as it may affect absorption), diuretics or medicines affecting electrolytes (risk of imbalance with diarrhoea), other laxatives (increased diarrhoea)

How to store Pegclear Powder

Store at room temperature (below 25°C), in a tightly closed container/pack, protected from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.

Expert advice for Pegclear Powder

Pegclear 8.5gm Powder is used for the treatment of constipation. It should preferably be taken at bedtime as it requires 2-3 days to show effect. It is usually taken once a day as needed for up to 2 weeks. Take it exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Take it atleast 2 hours after taking other medicines, as it may interfere with the absorption of other medicines. Inform your doctor if you have a history of stomach disorders such as appendicitis or a blockage in your bowel. Some healthy tips to prevent constipation from happening: Eat more fiber in your diet. Recommended daily intake is 20-35g Drink 8-10 glasses of water per day Exercise regularly at least 3 times per week Do not hold in stool as that can worsen bowel issues
