A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Quel 100 Tablet. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Quel 100 Tablet contains Quetiapine (100mg). It belongs to the Antipsychotic class of medicines.
Quetiapine rebalances the chemical messengers in the brain that, in excess, produce hallucinations, delusions and severe agitation.
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, crush or break it unless your doctor has told you to. Take it with or after food, usually at night. Taking it at about the same time each day helps you remember. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.
An overdose of this medicine can cause deep drowsiness, a severe fall in blood pressure, abnormal movements and heart rhythm disturbance. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Most side effects of Quel are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
| Pregnancy | Consult your doctor before using this in pregnancy. |
|---|---|
| Breastfeeding | Consult your doctor before using this while breastfeeding. |

Report any tremor, stiffness, restlessness or uncontrollable movements of the face, tongue or limbs to your doctor promptly — these can become persistent if not addressed. Seek emergency care for high fever with severe muscle stiffness, confusion and sweating. This is rare but life-threatening. These medicines can raise blood sugar, cholesterol and weight. Your doctor will monitor them — keep those appointments. Never stop suddenly; your doctor will reduce the dose gradually. Take care in hot weather — this group affects how your body regulates temperature.
Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Your doctor will assess suitability if you have heart disease, Parkinson's disease or dementia.
Alcohol and sedatives add to the drowsiness. Tell your doctor about any medicine that affects heart rhythm.
Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
Take it exactly as prescribed; most relapses follow a stopped medicine. Rise slowly from sitting or lying. Keep your weight, sugar and lipid checks.
