Composition of Rabifix-20

Rabifix-20 contains Rabeprazole sodium 20 mg. It belongs to the Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) class of medicines.

How Rabifix-20 works

Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that irreversibly blocks the H+/K+ ATPase (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells. This reduces gastric acid secretion and helps relieve acidity, heartburn, and promotes ulcer healing.

How to take Rabifix-20

Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily preferably 30 minutes before food (often before breakfast). Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew. Duration depends on the condition; complete the full course.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine may cause confusion, blurred vision, sweating and a fast heartbeat. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Rabifix-20

Most side effects of Rabifix-20 are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• diarrhea
• nausea
• abdominal pain
• flatulence
• constipation
• dizziness

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Use with caution in severe liver disease. Long-term use may increase risk of vitamin B12 deficiency, low magnesium, bone fractures, and infections (e.g., C. difficile diarrhea). Seek medical advice if alarm symptoms occur (unintentional weight loss, persistent vomiting, difficulty swallowing, blood in stools/black stools). May mask symptoms of gastric malignancy—evaluate if symptoms persist. Not for immediate relief of acute heartburn.

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack.

Interactions with other medicines

Warfarin, phenytoin, digoxin, methotrexate (high dose), ketoconazole/itraconazole/posaconazole (reduced absorption), atazanavir/nelfinavir (reduced effect; avoid), clopidogrel (possible reduced activation; monitor), iron salts (reduced absorption)

How to store Rabifix-20

Store below 25°C in a dry place. Protect from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.

Expert advice for Rabifix-20

Take it before breakfast, not after a meal. Eat smaller meals, avoid late dinners, raise the head of your bed and avoid smoking — these do as much as the tablet for reflux.
