Rabeprazole sodium 20 mg
Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive reflux esophagitis, peptic/duodenal ulcer, gastritis and acid-peptic disorders; part of H. pylori eradication therapy with antibiotics; Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (as prescribed).
Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that irreversibly blocks the H+/K+ ATPase (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells. This reduces gastric acid secretion and helps relieve acidity, heartburn, and promotes ulcer healing.
Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily preferably 30 minutes before food (often before breakfast). Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew. Duration depends on the condition; complete the full course.

Use with caution in severe liver disease. Long-term use may increase risk of vitamin B12 deficiency, low magnesium, bone fractures, and infections (e.g., C. difficile diarrhea). Seek medical advice if alarm symptoms occur (unintentional weight loss, persistent vomiting, difficulty swallowing, blood in stools/black stools). May mask symptoms of gastric malignancy—evaluate if symptoms persist. Not for immediate relief of acute heartburn.
