How Risdone Forte works

This medicine combines 2 active ingredients: Risperidone and Trihexyphenidyl. Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause deep drowsiness, a severe fall in blood pressure, abnormal movements and heart rhythm disturbance. It can cause severe confusion, abnormal movements, a very slow pulse and collapse. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Dose timing matters a great deal in Parkinson's disease. Take it at exactly the times prescribed. Report sudden daytime sleep attacks, hallucinations, or new gambling, spending or other impulsive behaviour — these are recognised effects and the dose may need review. Rise slowly from sitting or lying; a drop in blood pressure on standing is common.

Alcohol and sedatives add to the drowsiness. Tell your doctor about any medicine that affects heart rhythm. Anti-emetics such as metoclopramide and some antipsychotics can worsen Parkinson's symptoms. High-protein meals can reduce the absorption of levodopa — ask your doctor about timing.
