Levothyroxine is a synthetic form of thyroxine (T4), a natural thyroid hormone. It is converted to T3 in the body and restores normal thyroid hormone levels, helping regulate metabolism, energy, heart rate and body temperature.
Take orally once daily exactly as prescribed, preferably in the morning on an empty stomach (30–60 minutes before breakfast) with water. Take at the same time each day; avoid taking with calcium/iron/antacids within 4 hours. Do not stop or change dose without doctor advice; dose is adjusted based on TSH/T4 tests.

Use only under medical supervision; overdosage can cause symptoms of hyperthyroidism and serious cardiac effects. Caution in heart disease (angina, arrhythmias, hypertension), elderly, diabetes, adrenal insufficiency (treat before starting), osteoporosis. Not for weight loss/obesity treatment. Monitor TSH periodically; dose requirements may change in pregnancy, with weight changes or interacting medicines.
