Brufen 400 Tablet contains Ibuprofen 400 mg and is used for relief of mild to moderate pain, fever.
Brufen 400 Tablet is a medicine containing Ibuprofen 400 mg. It is used for mild to moderate pain, fever, inflammation in sprain, strain, musculoskeletal pain, dental pain and dysmenorrhea. It belongs to the group of medicines called NSAID (propionic acid derivative).
Take as directed by doctor, preferably after meals. The dose and how long you take it depend on what you are being treated for and how you respond. Do not take more, or for longer, than your doctor has advised.
The side effects seen most often with Brufen 400 Tablet are acidity, nausea, stomach pain and heartburn. Most are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. Tell your doctor if one persists or worries you.
Before you start, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problem, whether you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take, including supplements and ayurvedic preparations. Some of them can change how Brufen 400 Tablet works.
Most side effects of Brufen are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:
Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
Take as directed by doctor, preferably after meals. Swallow with water; do not exceed recommended dose. Use lowest effective dose for the shortest duration.
Ibuprofen is an NSAID that blocks COX enzymes and decreases prostaglandins. This lowers pain sensation, inflammation, and fever.
Risk of GI bleeding/ulcer especially with prolonged use, older age, alcohol, steroids or blood thinners. Use cautiously in kidney impairment, heart failure, hypertension, liver disease and asthma. Avoid in active peptic ulcer disease and in late pregnancy unless advised.
Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.
An overdose of this medicine can cause stomach bleeding, kidney failure, drowsiness and fits. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
