Medically reviewed by Dr. Balaji Krishnan, MBBS · Updated September 2026
Tofabrint 5 Tablet is a Janus kinase inhibitor. It works by blocking the action of the enzyme, Janus kinase. This decreases the activity of the immune system and inflammation associated with rheumatic diseases and ulcerative colitis.
Take the missed dose of Tofabrint as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.
Taking more Tofabrint than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
| Pregnancy | Tofabrint 5 Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor. |
|---|---|
| Breastfeeding | Tofabrint 5 Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby. |
| Alcohol | Consuming alcohol with Tofabrint 5 Tablet does not cause any harmful side effects. |
| Kidney | Tofabrint 5 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Tofabrint 5 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor. |
| Liver | Tofabrint 5 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Tofabrint 5 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor. |
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about every medicine you take, including over-the-counter products, vitamins and herbal or ayurvedic preparations, before starting Tofabrint. Some combinations can change how Tofabrint works or raise the chance of side effects.
Store Tofabrint below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the pack tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.
