How Varenya Cream works

Varenya Cream contains Ichthyol Pale, which is the sodium salt of a pale sulfonated shale oil in an aqueous solution. It works by reducing the oil secretion by the oil glands present on the skin surface. It also has antimicrobial activity that prevents the growth of infectious microorganisms and treats skin infections too. Additionally, it has anti-inflammatory properties that treat irritation and itching in skin disorders.

How to take Varenya Cream

This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the cream. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Varenya Cream, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Varenya than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Varenya Cream

Most side effects of Varenya are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

How to store Varenya Cream

Store Varenya below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the pack tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.

Expert advice for Varenya Cream

Varenya Cream is prescribed for the treatment of skin blemishes, redness or itching associated with various skin disorders. Cover exposed skin or use a sunblock (SP 15 or higher) whenever you step outside in the sun following treatment with this medicine. Do not use perfumes, aftershave, deodorants, or other cosmetics and toiletries while using Varenya Cream as they make your skin even more sensitive. Continue with the treatment as long as prescribed by your doctor. The most common reason for treatment failure is giving up too soon, thinking that the treatment is not working. If, however, your skin has not improved even after completing the prescribed time, consult your doctor.
