Composition of Vermact-12 Tablet

Vermact-12 Tablet contains Ivermectin 12 mg. It belongs to the Anthelmintic (avermectin) class of medicines.

Treatment of certain parasitic infections such as strongyloidiasis and onchocerciasis; also used for scabies and head lice as prescribed.

How Vermact-12 Tablet works

Ivermectin is an antiparasitic medicine that binds to parasite-specific chloride channels (glutamate-gated), increasing chloride influx and causing paralysis and death of the parasite. This helps clear the infestation/infection.

How to take Vermact-12 Tablet

Take as directed by a doctor. Usually taken by mouth on an empty stomach with water (about 1 hour before food). Dose depends on body weight and the condition; may be single dose or repeated as prescribed.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause vomiting, abdominal cramps and nerve symptoms. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Vermact-12 Tablet

Most side effects of Vermact-12 are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Prescription-only medicine. Use with caution in liver disease and in patients with heavy parasite load (may cause inflammatory reactions). May cause dizziness—avoid driving if affected. Seek medical help for severe rash, swelling, breathing difficulty, or persistent neurological symptoms.

Do not take Vermact-12 if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Several medicines in this group are avoided in early pregnancy.

Interactions with other medicines

Warfarin (may increase INR/bleeding risk),other CNS depressants/alcohol (may increase dizziness),strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (may increase ivermectin levels)

How to store Vermact-12 Tablet

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
