Composition of Vildatis M 500 Tablet

Vildatis M 500 Tablet contains Vildagliptin 50 mg + Metformin 500 mg (as Metformin hydrochloride). It belongs to the DPP-4 inhibitor + Biguanide class of medicines.

Uses of Vildatis M 500 Tablet

Type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve blood glucose control in adults when diet and exercise alone or monotherapy is insufficient.

How Vildatis M 500 Tablet works

Vildagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases incretin hormones (GLP-1, GIP), enhancing glucose-dependent insulin release and reducing glucagon secretion. Metformin decreases hepatic glucose production and improves peripheral insulin sensitivity, lowering blood glucose without usually causing hypoglycaemia when used alone.

How to take Vildatis M 500 Tablet

Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed, usually with meals to reduce stomach upset. Swallow whole with water; do not crush/chew. Dose is individualized based on blood sugar control and kidney function.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Vildatis M as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Vildatis M than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Vildatis M 500 Tablet

Most side effects of Vildatis M are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhoea
• abdominal pain
• loss of appetite
• metallic taste
• headache
• dizziness
• nasopharyngitis
• hypoglycaemia (especially with other antidiabetics)
• increased liver enzymes

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Safety advice for Vildatis M 500 Tablet

Warnings and precautions

Contraindicated in severe renal impairment; assess eGFR before start and periodically. Risk of lactic acidosis with metformin (more likely in kidney/liver disease, dehydration, sepsis, hypoxia, excessive alcohol); stop and seek care if deep/rapid breathing, severe weakness, abdominal pain occur. Monitor liver function; vildagliptin may rarely cause hepatitis—discontinue if jaundice or persistent LFT elevation. Temporarily stop metformin before/at time of iodinated contrast procedures or major surgery and restart after renal function is stable. Use caution in elderly and in conditions causing dehydration; monitor for pancreatitis symptoms (severe persistent abdominal pain).

Interactions with other medicines

Alcohol (increases lactic acidosis risk), iodinated contrast media, carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (e.g., topiramate/acetazolamide), cimetidine, diuretics, corticosteroids, thyroid hormones, beta-agonists, other antidiabetics (insulin/sulfonylureas increase hypoglycaemia risk), ACE inhibitors (may enhance glucose-lowering), drugs affecting renal function (NSAIDs/ACEi/ARB)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
