Wymox 250 mg Capsule contains Amoxycillin (250mg). It belongs to the Aminopenicillin (beta-lactam penicillin antibiotic) class of medicines.
Amoxicillin is a penicillin-class (beta-lactam) antibiotic. It kills susceptible bacteria by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through binding to penicillin-binding proteins, leading to cell lysis.
Take the capsule exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Usually taken 2–3 times daily at evenly spaced intervals; can be taken with or without food (take with food if stomach upset occurs). Swallow whole with water and complete the full course even if you feel better.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of Wymox 250mg Capsule, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Taking more Wymox than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Wymox are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Do not use if allergic to amoxicillin, penicillins or other beta-lactam antibiotics (e.g., cephalosporins) due to risk of severe allergic reactions. Use with caution in kidney disease (dose adjustment may be needed), history of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea/colitis, infectious mononucleosis (higher risk of rash), and in patients with asthma/allergic disorders. Seek urgent help for breathing difficulty, facial/throat swelling, severe rash, or persistent severe diarrhoea. Prolonged use may cause superinfection; monitor if on long courses.
Warfarin/other anticoagulants (may increase bleeding risk/INR), allopurinol (increased rash risk), methotrexate (reduced clearance/toxicity risk), probenecid (increases amoxicillin levels), mycophenolate mofetil (reduced active metabolite exposure), oral typhoid vaccine (reduced effect); combined oral contraceptives—additional contraception may be advisable if vomiting/diarrhoea occurs.
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
Wymox 250mg Capsule is used to treat infections caused by bacteria. Finish the prescribed course, even if you start to feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat. Diarrhea may occur as a side effect. Taking probiotics along with Wymox 250mg Capsule may help. Talk to your doctor if you notice bloody stools or develop abdominal cramps. Stop taking this medicine and inform your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat or tongue or breathing difficulties while taking it.
