Amoxicillin 250 mg (as trihydrate) capsule
Bacterial infections such as ear, nose and throat infections (tonsillitis, sinusitis, otitis media), respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, dental infections; also used with other medicines for Helicobacter pylori eradication as prescribed.
Amoxicillin is a penicillin-class (beta-lactam) antibiotic. It kills susceptible bacteria by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through binding to penicillin-binding proteins, leading to cell lysis.
Take the capsule exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Usually taken 2–3 times daily at evenly spaced intervals; can be taken with or without food (take with food if stomach upset occurs). Swallow whole with water and complete the full course even if you feel better.
Common side effects of WYMOX 250MG CAP may include:
Do not use if allergic to amoxicillin, penicillins or other beta-lactam antibiotics (e.g., cephalosporins) due to risk of severe allergic reactions. Use with caution in kidney disease (dose adjustment may be needed), history of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea/colitis, infectious mononucleosis (higher risk of rash), and in patients with asthma/allergic disorders. Seek urgent help for breathing difficulty, facial/throat swelling, severe rash, or persistent severe diarrhoea. Prolonged use may cause superinfection; monitor if on long courses.
