How Xtracare Gargle works

An antiseptic gargle works by reducing the load of bacteria and other microbes in the mouth and throat. This helps decrease local infection and inflammation, providing symptomatic relief in sore throat and oral irritation.

How to take Xtracare Gargle

Use as a gargle for mouth/throat only. Dilute with warm water if advised on the label. Gargle for 30–60 seconds and spit out; do not swallow. Use 2–3 times daily or as directed by a doctor/dentist.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Xtracare Gargle as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Xtracare Gargle than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Xtracare Gargle

Most side effects of Xtracare Gargle are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

For external use in mouth/throat only; do not swallow. Avoid use if allergic to any ingredient. Do not use in children unless advised by a doctor. If symptoms persist beyond 2–3 days, fever develops, or there is severe pain, swelling, or difficulty swallowing/breathing, seek medical advice. Avoid contact with eyes; rinse with water if contact occurs.

Interactions with other medicines

If it contains iodine, avoid concurrent use with lithium and use caution with thyroid medicines (unknown for this product). Other mouth/throat antiseptics used together may increase irritation.
