How Xtramet Cream works

Xtramet Cream is a steroid that works by inhibiting the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause redness, swelling, and itching in the skin. It reduces inflammation by suppressing the immune response, decreasing swelling, and preventing the release of substances that cause allergic reactions and irritation. This helps alleviate symptoms of skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

How to take Xtramet Cream

This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the cream. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Xtramet Cream, apply it as soon as possible. However, if your next dose is near, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Xtramet than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Xtramet Cream

Most side effects of Xtramet are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

How to store Xtramet Cream

Store Xtramet below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the pack tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.

Expert advice for Xtramet Cream

Apply Xtramet Cream as a thin layer to the affected areas 2-3 times daily or as directed by your doctor. Do not use it more often or for longer than advised by your doctor. Do not cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects. If you think the area of skin you are treating has become infected, you should stop using Xtramet Cream and consult your doctor.
