Zandu Balm 25 ml contains Menthol, Methyl salicylate, Camphor, Eucalyptus oil (exact strengths not specified). It belongs to the Topical counter-irritant (salicylate + menthol/camphor/essential oils) class of medicines.
Zandu Balm is a topical counter-irritant/analgesic. Menthol and camphor provide a cooling/warming sensation and reduce pain perception, while methyl salicylate and essential oils help relieve local pain and inflammation and ease congestion by vapour action.
For external use only. Apply a small amount on the affected area (forehead/temples for headache; muscles/joints for pain) and gently massage 2–3 times daily or as needed. Avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth and broken/irritated skin; wash hands after use.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Take the missed dose of Zandu Balm as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.
Taking more Zandu Balm than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Zandu Balm are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
| Pregnancy | Use with caution / Consult doctor (topical use) |
|---|---|
| Alcohol | No known interaction |
| Habit forming | No |
External use only. Do not apply on cuts, wounds, eczema or irritated skin. Avoid use near eyes and mucous membranes. Do not use with heating pads or tight bandages. Stop use and consult a doctor if severe irritation/allergy occurs or pain persists. Use with caution in children; keep out of reach of children. If accidentally swallowed, seek medical help immediately.
May increase risk of irritation when used with other topical pain rubs/irritants; excessive use over large areas may theoretically increase salicylate exposure—use caution with anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin) or salicylate allergy.
Store at room temperature (below 25°C), tightly closed. Protect from heat, direct sunlight and moisture.
