How Zilokem 40 mg Tablet works
Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It blocks AT1 receptors, causing relaxation of blood vessels and reduced aldosterone effects, which lowers blood pressure and decreases strain on the heart.
How to take Zilokem 40 mg Tablet

Warnings and precautions

Use caution in kidney disease, renal artery stenosis, dehydration/low salt states, severe liver impairment, and in elderly due to hypotension risk. Monitor blood pressure, kidney function (creatinine) and serum potassium, especially after starting or dose changes. Do not use together with aliskiren in diabetes; caution with ACE inhibitors/dual RAAS blockade. Seek medical help for severe dizziness/fainting, swelling/angioedema, or signs of high potassium (weakness, palpitations).
Do not take Zilokem if
Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy — it can seriously harm the developing baby. Not for people with narrowing of both kidney arteries, or a history of swelling of the face and throat caused by this group of medicines.
Interactions with other medicines
Potassium supplements/salt substitutes, potassium-sparing diuretics (spironolactone, eplerenone, amiloride), ACE inhibitors, aliskiren, NSAIDs (ibuprofen/diclofenac) may reduce effect and worsen kidney function, diuretics may increase first-dose hypotension, lithium (increased lithium levels/toxicity), other antihypertensives (additive BP lowering)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
