Azithromycin 100 mg/5 ml oral suspension (15 ml bottle)
Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as ear infections (otitis media), throat/tonsil infections (pharyngitis/tonsillitis), sinusitis, bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, skin and soft tissue infections; as prescribed by doctor (commonly in children).
Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. This stops growth of susceptible bacteria and helps clear infection.
Oral suspension. Shake well before each dose. Measure with dosing syringe/cup and give the prescribed dose once daily (commonly) with or without food (prefer after food if stomach upset). Complete the full course even if symptoms improve. Follow reconstitution instructions on the label if supplied as dry syrup.
Common side effects of ZITHROX 100 SUSP may include:

Seek medical help for severe diarrhoea (possible C. difficile), severe rash, or signs of liver injury (yellowing of eyes/skin, dark urine). Dose adjustment may be needed in hepatic impairment; use as directed in kidney disease.
