How Zolax 1 works

Most side effects of Zolax are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Prescription-only medicine. Can cause sedation, impaired driving/operating machinery and increased risk of falls. Risk of dependence, abuse and withdrawal—use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration; do not stop abruptly. Use with caution in elderly, liver disease, respiratory disease (e.g., COPD, sleep apnoea), depression or suicidal risk. Avoid concomitant opioids and other CNS depressants due to risk of profound sedation and respiratory depression. Not recommended in patients with a history of substance misuse unless closely supervised.

Do not take Zolax if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with severe breathing problems, sleep apnoea, or severe liver disease. Not for anyone with a history of dependence, except under specialist supervision.

Interactions with other medicines

Alcohol and other CNS depressants (opioids, sedating antihistamines, antipsychotics) increase sedation/respiratory depression; CYP3A4 inhibitors (ketoconazole/itraconazole, macrolides like erythromycin/clarithromycin, protease inhibitors, grapefruit juice) can increase alprazolam levels; CYP3A4 inducers (rifampicin, carbamazepine, phenytoin) may reduce effect; caution with antidepressants/other sedatives.

How to store Zolax 1

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Expert advice for Zolax 1

Your doctor has prescribed Zolax 10mg Capsule to help you fall asleep faster and sleep for longer. It is best taken without food, as a high-fat meal can reduce its absorption and effect. Take it 30 to 45 minutes before bedtime and only when you have time to sleep for at least 7 hours. It makes you feel dizzy the next morning. Don't drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you. It does not affect total sleep time. However, it reduces sleep onset time and frequency of awakening at night. Never share your medication with any other person who also has a sleep problem. Inform your doctor if your sleep doesn’t improve after 7 to 10 days of treatment. Stop taking medication and inform your doctor If you experience sleep driving or memory loss. Do not stop taking medication suddenly as it may lead to anxiety, mood changes, and restlessness.
