Alprazolam is a benzodiazepine that enhances the action of GABA, an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain. This reduces excessive neuronal activity, producing anxiolytic and calming effects.
Oral tablet (SR/ER). Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily, swallowed whole with water; do not crush, chew, or split. Can be taken with or without food; take at the same time each day. Do not stop suddenly—dose should be tapered by a doctor.
Common side effects of ZOLAX SR 0.5MG TAB 10`S may include:
Prescription-only benzodiazepine. Risk of dependence, misuse and withdrawal (including seizures) especially with prolonged use or high doses; use for shortest duration as advised. May cause marked drowsiness—avoid driving/operating machinery. Use caution in elderly (falls/confusion), liver disease, respiratory disease (COPD/sleep apnea), depression/suicidal risk. Do not stop abruptly. Concomitant use with opioids or other CNS depressants can cause profound sedation, respiratory depression, coma or death.
