Zolpidem tartrate 5 mg
Short-term treatment of insomnia (difficulty falling asleep and/or frequent night awakenings)
Zolpidem is a non-benzodiazepine hypnotic that enhances the action of GABA at the GABA-A receptor (preferentially BZ1 subtype). This reduces neuronal activity in the brain and helps induce and maintain sleep.
Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at bedtime, just before going to sleep, when you can sleep for at least 7–8 hours. Take on an empty stomach (food can delay onset). Do not take a second dose the same night.
Common side effects of ZOLNAP 5MG may include:
Prescription-only sleep medicine; use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration. May cause next-day impairment; avoid driving/operating machinery. Risk of dependence, tolerance, withdrawal and rebound insomnia—do not stop suddenly without medical advice. Can cause abnormal sleep behaviours (sleep-walking, sleep-driving, sleep-eating); discontinue and seek medical help if these occur. Use caution in elderly, liver impairment, respiratory disease (COPD/sleep apnoea), depression, and in patients with history of substance misuse. Avoid use with other sedatives. Seek urgent help for allergic reactions (swelling, breathing difficulty).
