Desvenlafaxine extended-release 50 mg
Treatment of major depressive disorder (depression); may also be used for anxiety symptoms associated with depression as prescribed.
Desvenlafaxine is a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI). It increases levels of serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain, helping improve mood, energy and interest in daily activities.
Oral tablet (OD/once daily). Take exactly as prescribed, preferably at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow whole; do not crush, chew or split extended-release tablets. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
Common side effects of ZYVEN-OD 50MG TAB may include:
Prescription medicine. Do not use with MAO inhibitors (or within 14 days of stopping an MAOI); wait at least 7 days after stopping desvenlafaxine before starting an MAOI. Monitor for suicidal thoughts/behavior especially in young adults and during dose changes. May increase blood pressure and heart rate—regular BP monitoring advised. Use caution in seizure disorder, bipolar disorder/mania, bleeding disorders, glaucoma (angle-closure risk), hyponatremia risk (elderly/diuretics), and liver/kidney impairment (dose adjustment may be needed). Risk of serotonin syndrome, especially with other serotonergic drugs. Do not stop abruptly—withdrawal symptoms may occur.
