Home blood glucose monitoring for people with diabetes or those advised to check blood sugar.
The kit typically includes a glucometer with test strips and lancets. A small drop of capillary blood is applied to the strip; the meter uses an electrochemical method to estimate glucose concentration and displays the result.
Use as per the device user manual. Wash and dry hands, insert a compatible test strip into the meter, use a new sterile lancet to prick the side of a fingertip, apply the blood drop to the strip, and read the result. Dispose used lancets/strips safely. Use only compatible strips/lancets for the meter.
Mild pain at prick site, local redness, bruising, minor bleeding, infection at puncture site (rare)
For in-vitro diagnostic self-testing only; not a treatment. Use a new sterile lancet each time; do not share lancing device to avoid infection. Results can be affected by insufficient blood sample, expired/damaged strips, incorrect coding/calibration (if applicable), extreme temperatures, dehydration, high/low hematocrit, certain medications (e.g., high-dose vitamin C) depending on strip chemistry. Confirm unexpected readings and consult a doctor for treatment decisions; keep out of reach of children.
Certain substances may interfere with some glucose strip chemistries (product-dependent), e.g., high-dose ascorbic acid (vitamin C), uric acid, acetaminophen, maltose/galactose/xylose (for GDH-PQQ based strips). Refer to strip insert for specific interferences.
Store meter in a clean, dry place. Store test strips in original vial/pack, tightly closed, away from moisture, heat and direct sunlight; do not refrigerate/freeze unless label says so. Use strips before expiry and within the specified period after opening.
