The meter measures glucose in a small drop of capillary blood applied to a test strip. The strip’s chemistry generates an electrical/optical signal proportional to glucose concentration, which the device converts into a displayed blood glucose value.

Insert a compatible Accu-Chek Active test strip into the meter. Use a lancing device to obtain a finger-prick blood drop and apply it to the strip as per the user manual; wait for the reading. Record results and follow your clinician’s testing schedule. Use clean, dry hands; do not share lancets; dispose of sharps safely.

Incorrect technique, expired/damaged strips, dirty hands, extreme temperatures, altitude/humidity, and improper storage of strips can cause inaccurate readings. Keep meter and accessories away from children (choking hazard). Use a new sterile lancet each time; do not share lancing devices to reduce infection risk. Follow the device IFU for quality checks and calibration requirements (if any).

Certain substances/conditions may affect SMBG accuracy depending on strip chemistry and user technique (e.g., contaminated sample, severe dehydration, very high/low hematocrit, high triglycerides, some interfering sugars/chemicals as per strip labeling). Refer to the Accu-Chek Active strip/package insert for specific interferences.

Store the meter clean and dry at room temperature; avoid direct sunlight, dust, moisture, and extreme heat/cold. Store test strips in original vial with cap tightly closed; protect from humidity and heat; do not use expired strips.
