Syrup
Allergic rhinitis (seasonal/perennial) with sneezing, runny/blocked nose, itchy/watery eyes; adjunct relief of allergy-related cough/wheeze; urticaria (hives) as advised by doctor.
Levocetirizine is an antihistamine that blocks H1 receptors to reduce sneezing, itching, and watery eyes. Montelukast blocks leukotriene receptors, decreasing allergy-related inflammation and nasal congestion and helping prevent allergy-induced wheeze.
Oral syrup. Shake well before use. Measure with a dosing spoon/cup. Usually given once daily in the evening or as prescribed; can be taken with or without food. Do not exceed the prescribed dose; follow pediatric dosing strictly.
Drowsiness, fatigue, headache, dry mouth, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, dizziness
Use only on doctor’s advice in children. May cause sleepiness—avoid activities requiring alertness. Montelukast has been associated with mood/behavior changes (irritability, nightmares, anxiety, depression); stop and seek medical advice if these occur. Not for acute asthma attack relief. Use caution in liver disease and in children with a history of seizures. If symptoms persist or worsen, consult a doctor.
Alcohol or other CNS depressants (increased drowsiness), sedating antihistamines, phenobarbital/phenytoin/rifampicin (may reduce montelukast levels), theophylline (monitor), strong CYP enzyme inducers
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light. Keep bottle tightly closed. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
