Bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections (sinusitis, otitis media, bronchitis, pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, dental infections, and certain bone/joint infections caused by susceptible organisms

Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects amoxicillin from degradation by beta-lactamase–producing bacteria, broadening its spectrum.

Tablet; take exactly as prescribed. Commonly taken with food at the start of a meal to reduce stomach upset. Swallow with water at evenly spaced intervals and complete the full course; do not crush/chew unless advised.

Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, indigestion, rash, urticaria, headache, dizziness, oral/vaginal candidiasis

Prescription-only antibiotic. Do not use in patients with history of hypersensitivity to penicillins/cephalosporins or previous cholestatic jaundice/hepatic dysfunction with amoxicillin-clavulanate. Use with caution in liver disease, renal impairment (dose adjustment may be needed), and infectious mononucleosis (higher risk of rash). Seek urgent care for signs of allergy (swelling, breathing difficulty) or severe/persistent diarrhoea (risk of C. difficile).

Warfarin/other anticoagulants (may increase INR/bleeding risk), methotrexate (reduced clearance/toxicity), allopurinol (increased rash risk), probenecid (increases amoxicillin levels), mycophenolate mofetil (may reduce active metabolite levels), oral contraceptives (possible reduced efficacy—use backup if advised)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
