Product details are provided by the manufacturer. Refer to the pack for complete information.
Bacterial infections such as upper and lower respiratory tract infections (pharyngitis/tonsillitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia), ear infections (otitis media), skin and soft tissue infections, and certain other susceptible infections as prescribed.
Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic. It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby stopping growth and helping clear the infection.
Oral suspension: Reconstitute with boiled and cooled water up to the mark, shake well. Give the measured dose using a calibrated spoon/syringe, once daily as prescribed; can be taken with or without food (with food if stomach upset). Shake well before each dose and complete the full course.
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, indigestion, headache, dizziness, rash
Use only for bacterial infections (not viral). Inform doctor if you have liver disease, history of jaundice with antibiotics, heart rhythm problems/QT prolongation, low potassium/magnesium, or myasthenia gravis. Stop and seek care if severe allergy, severe diarrhoea (possible C. difficile), or signs of liver injury occur. Dose adjustment may be needed in severe hepatic impairment.
Antacids containing aluminium/magnesium (separate dosing), warfarin/other anticoagulants (increased bleeding risk/monitor INR), antiarrhythmics and other QT-prolonging drugs (e.g., amiodarone, sotalol, quinolones, some antipsychotics), digoxin (may increase levels), cyclosporine (monitor levels), ergot derivatives (avoid)
Store dry powder at room temperature away from moisture and light. After reconstitution, keep tightly closed and use within 5–10 days as per label; store at room temperature or refrigerated as directed; do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
