Management of high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia/mixed dyslipidemia) when diet and lifestyle measures are insufficient; reduction of LDL-C, total cholesterol, non-HDL cholesterol and triglycerides; to lower risk of cardiovascular events in appropriate patients as advised by physician

Rosuvastatin is a statin that inhibits HMG‑CoA reductase in the liver, reducing cholesterol synthesis and increasing LDL receptor activity to clear LDL from blood. Ezetimibe inhibits intestinal absorption of cholesterol by blocking NPC1L1 transporter, reducing delivery of cholesterol to the liver. Together they produce greater LDL reduction than either alone.

Take orally exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time, with or without food. Swallow whole with water. If also taking bile-acid sequestrants (e.g., cholestyramine), take this tablet at least 2 hours before or 4 hours after them. Continue diet/exercise and do not stop without medical advice.

Headache, nausea, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, muscle pain (myalgia), weakness, increased liver enzymes

Not recommended in pregnancy; stop and consult doctor if pregnancy occurs. Avoid breastfeeding while on therapy. Use with caution in liver disease or heavy alcohol use; periodic liver function tests may be required. Seek urgent care for unexplained muscle pain/tenderness/weakness, fever or dark urine (risk of myopathy/rhabdomyolysis, increased in kidney impairment, hypothyroidism, elderly). Dose adjustment/extra monitoring may be needed in kidney impairment. Inform doctor about all medicines and supplements.

Cyclosporine (increases rosuvastatin; avoid/limit dose), gemfibrozil and other fibrates (increased myopathy risk), niacin (myopathy risk), warfarin/other anticoagulants (may alter INR—monitor), antacids containing aluminum/magnesium (reduce rosuvastatin absorption—separate by at least 2 hours), bile-acid sequestrants (reduce ezetimibe absorption—separate dosing), protease inhibitors (may increase statin exposure), colchicine (myopathy risk)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
