Relief of pain and inflammation in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis; acute pain conditions; primary dysmenorrhoea (painful periods)

Celecoxib is a selective COX-2 inhibitor (NSAID). It reduces formation of prostaglandins responsible for pain, fever and inflammation, while relatively sparing COX-1 which helps protect the stomach lining.

Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed by the doctor, preferably with food if it causes stomach upset. Swallow whole with water; do not crush/chew. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration.

Do not use if allergic to celecoxib/sulfonamides or other NSAIDs. Avoid in active peptic ulcer/bleeding, severe liver or kidney disease, and severe heart failure. NSAIDs (including celecoxib) can increase risk of heart attack/stroke, especially with high doses/long use; use caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, smokers. Can cause gastrointestinal bleeding/ulceration and serious skin reactions; stop and seek medical help if black stools, vomiting blood, chest pain, shortness of breath, severe rash, or facial swelling occurs. Use caution with asthma, dehydration, elderly patients. Not recommended in late pregnancy (3rd trimester).

Anticoagulants (warfarin), antiplatelets (aspirin, clopidogrel), other NSAIDs, SSRIs/SNRIs, corticosteroids (increased bleeding risk); ACE inhibitors/ARBs and diuretics (reduced effect, kidney risk); lithium (increased levels), methotrexate (toxicity risk), cyclosporine/tacrolimus (kidney risk), fluconazole (may increase celecoxib levels), rifampicin (may reduce levels)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
