Bacterial infections where beta-lactamase producing organisms are suspected, including sinusitis, otitis media, tonsillitis/pharyngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, and skin/soft tissue infections (as prescribed)
Cefpodoxime inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis leading to bacterial death. Clavulanic acid inhibits beta-lactamase enzymes, helping restore cefpodoxime activity against resistant bacteria.
Reconstitute with boiled and cooled water up to the mark; shake well. Take the prescribed dose preferably with food at evenly spaced times. Complete the full course; do not stop early.
Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, rash, headache, oral thrush
Avoid in cephalosporin allergy; caution in penicillin allergy. Use caution in hepatic dysfunction (clavulanate may affect liver enzymes) and renal impairment. Seek medical attention for severe diarrhea, jaundice, or allergic reactions.
Warfarin/anticoagulants, probenecid, antacids/H2 blockers (may reduce absorption), methotrexate (increased toxicity risk), live bacterial vaccines (reduced effect)
Store dry powder in a cool, dry place. After reconstitution, store as per label (often refrigerated or kept in a cool place) and use within the labeled period; protect from heat and moisture.
