Betahistine 16 mg (as betahistine dihydrochloride) tablet
Treatment of Ménière’s disease and vestibular vertigo (episodes of dizziness/vertigo, tinnitus, nausea/vomiting, hearing disturbances)
Betahistine is a histamine analogue (H1 agonist and H3 antagonist) that improves microcirculation in the inner ear. It reduces endolymphatic pressure and helps decrease frequency and severity of vertigo attacks.
Take orally as prescribed by the doctor, usually with or after food to reduce stomach upset. Swallow the tablet with water at the same time each day; do not crush/chew unless advised.
Headache, nausea, indigestion/dyspepsia, stomach pain, bloating, vomiting, skin rash, itching
Use with caution in patients with bronchial asthma, peptic ulcer disease or history of ulcers, and low blood pressure. Stop and seek medical help if allergic reactions occur (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty). Not recommended for children unless advised by a specialist. If symptoms persist/worsen, consult a doctor; avoid driving if vertigo persists.
Antihistamines (may reduce effect of betahistine), MAO inhibitors including selegiline (may increase betahistine levels/effects)
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
