Treatment and prevention of vitamin D deficiency, management of vitamin D insufficiency, adjunct in osteoporosis/osteopenia and other conditions requiring vitamin D supplementation

Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) is converted in the body to active vitamin D, which increases intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate. It helps maintain normal bone mineralization and supports muscle function.

Oral solution/shot (5 ml). Take as directed by a doctor; may be taken with or after food (preferably with a meal containing fat) for better absorption. Shake well if advised on label; measure the full 5 ml dose and swallow; do not exceed prescribed frequency.

Nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, headache, weakness, increased thirst, increased urination

Use with caution in hypercalcaemia, hypervitaminosis D, kidney stones, severe renal impairment, sarcoidosis or other granulomatous disorders. Avoid taking additional vitamin D/calcium supplements unless advised. Overdose can cause high calcium levels; seek medical help if symptoms like confusion, severe vomiting, or excessive thirst/urination occur. Monitor calcium and vitamin D levels if on long-term/high-dose therapy.

Thiazide diuretics (risk of hypercalcaemia), digoxin/cardiac glycosides (arrhythmia risk with high calcium), anticonvulsants like phenytoin/phenobarbital (reduced vitamin D effect), rifampicin (reduced effect), corticosteroids (reduced effect), cholestyramine/orlistat (reduced absorption), aluminum- or magnesium-containing antacids in renal impairment (risk of toxicity)

Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from light and moisture. Keep tightly closed and out of reach of children.
