Type 2 diabetes mellitus (to help control blood sugar in adults)

Dapagliflozin is an SGLT2 inhibitor that lowers blood glucose by increasing urinary glucose excretion via the kidneys. Sitagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases incretin hormones, improving insulin release and reducing glucagon in a glucose-dependent manner.

Oral tablet; take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Maintain adequate hydration; continue diet and exercise advice. Do not stop or change dose without medical advice.

Urinary tract infection, genital fungal infection, increased urination, thirst, headache, nasopharyngitis, nausea, dizziness, low blood sugar (especially with insulin/sulfonylureas)

For type 2 diabetes only (not for type 1 diabetes). Risk of genital/urinary infections and dehydration; drink fluids and seek care for fever, burning urination or genital symptoms. SGLT2 inhibitors may rarely cause diabetic ketoacidosis even with near-normal sugars—seek urgent care for nausea/vomiting, abdominal pain, rapid breathing. Use caution in kidney disease; not recommended in severe renal impairment/end-stage kidney disease. May increase risk of hypotension in elderly/diuretics. Rare risk of pancreatitis with sitagliptin—seek care for severe abdominal pain. Inform doctor before surgery/acute illness; may need temporary stop. Monitor blood glucose and kidney function as advised.

Insulin, sulfonylureas (increased hypoglycaemia risk), diuretics (increased dehydration/hypotension risk), rifampicin/other strong enzyme inducers (may reduce sitagliptin effect), digoxin (sitagliptin may increase levels—monitor), alcohol (may increase dehydration/ketoacidosis risk), other antidiabetic medicines

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
