Diclofenac diethylamine 1.16% w/v (equivalent to Diclofenac sodium 1% w/v) topical solution/liniment
Relief of local pain and inflammation in musculoskeletal conditions such as sprains, strains, sports injuries, back/neck pain, tendonitis, and mild arthritis/joint pain
Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzymes, reducing prostaglandin production. This decreases pain, swelling, and inflammation at the site of application with minimal systemic absorption compared to oral NSAIDs.
For external use only. Apply a small amount to the affected area and gently massage until absorbed, typically 3-4 times daily or as directed by a doctor. Use on intact skin; avoid eyes, mouth, genitals, and broken/irritated skin. Wash hands after application (unless hands are the treated area).
Application site burning/stinging, redness, itching, rash, dryness, skin irritation
Do not use if allergic to diclofenac/aspirin/other NSAIDs. Avoid applying on cuts, wounds, infected or eczematous skin. Do not cover with occlusive dressings or use heat over the area unless advised. Stop use and seek medical advice if severe rash, blistering, breathing difficulty, or swelling occurs. Use cautiously in patients with history of asthma/NSAID sensitivity. Avoid prolonged use over large areas, especially in elderly or those with kidney/heart disease. Not recommended in the last trimester of pregnancy; use only if prescribed in earlier pregnancy. Keep away from children.
Other NSAIDs (oral/topical), anticoagulants/antiplatelets (e.g., warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel) may increase bleeding risk if significant systemic absorption occurs; corticosteroids may increase GI risk if used concurrently with oral NSAIDs; photosensitizing agents may increase sun sensitivity
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from heat and direct sunlight. Keep the bottle tightly closed. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
