Eptoin 50 Tablet

Eptoin 50 Tablet contains Phenytoin (50mg). Prescription required.

Epilepsy (control of focal seizures and generalized tonic-clonic seizures), seizure prevention as prescribed

Phenytoin stabilizes neuronal membranes by inhibiting voltage-gated sodium channels. This limits seizure spread and reduces abnormal firing in the brain.

Take as prescribed at the same time daily, with or without food. Do not stop suddenly. Dose is individualized; blood level monitoring may be required, especially with dose changes or interacting medicines.

Dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, unsteady gait, nystagmus, gum swelling, rash, headache

Risk of severe skin rash (SJS/TEN) and hypersensitivity; seek urgent care for rash, fever, mouth sores. Maintain good dental hygiene to reduce gum overgrowth. Many drug interactions; may reduce effectiveness of hormonal contraceptives. Use caution in liver disease and in elderly; avoid abrupt withdrawal.

Warfarin, oral contraceptives, carbamazepine, valproate, phenobarbital, isoniazid, rifampicin, azole antifungals, macrolides, alcohol, CNS depressants
