Nutritional deficiencies

GEMcal XT Tablet is a combination of five medicines : Calcium Carbonate, Vitamin D3, Methylcobalamin, L-Methyl Folate Calcium, and Pyridoxal-5-phosphate. Calcium carbonate is a dietary supplement used when the amount of calcium taken in the diet is not enough. Vitamin D3 is a form of vitamin D. It raises vitamin D levels in your blood. This in turn raises calcium levels in your blood by helping you absorb more calcium from food. Methylcobalamin is a form of vitamin B12 that restores its level in the body thereby helping in treating certain anemias and nerve problems. L-Methyl Folate Calcium and Pyridoxal-5-phosphate are nutritional supplements that provide essential nutrients to our body and improve overall health.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. GEMcal XT Tablet should be taken with or after food.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Do not take more than your doctor has advised. Vitamin D builds up in the body and too much raises blood calcium, causing thirst, frequent urination, nausea and confusion. High-dose weekly or monthly sachets are prescription strengths — do not repeat one because you missed a week. Tell your doctor if you have had kidney stones or have kidney disease. Tingling, numbness or burning in the hands and feet should be assessed by a doctor rather than self-treated — a supplement does not address the cause. Folic acid can mask a vitamin B12 deficiency while nerve damage continues, so B12 should be checked before taking folic acid long term. Bright yellow urine after a B-complex dose is expected and harmless. Do not take high-dose vitamin B6 for long periods without medical advice — sustained excess can cause nerve damage.

Calcium reduces the absorption of thyroid tablets, several antibiotics and iron — separate them by a few hours. Water tablets of the thiazide group raise calcium further when combined. Long-term metformin, acid-reducing medicines and some anti-epileptics lower B12 or folate levels. Tell your doctor if you take levodopa, as vitamin B6 can reduce its effect.

Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
