Before you take it
Glucobay M 25 Tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy.<br>Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
Glucobay M 25 Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.

Glucobay M 25 Tablet contains Metformin (500mg) + Acarbose (25mg) and is used for adjunct to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes. Prescription required.
Adjunct to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes.
Decreases hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity; acts in liver and gut.
Take as directed by the physician, usually with the first bite of each main meal. Drink plenty of fluids. Monitor blood sugar levels regularly.

Taking metformin with alcohol can cause lactic acidosis and you may experience malaise, respiratory distress, slow or irregular heartbeat, sleepiness, stomach upset, or other unusual symptoms.
May cause drowsiness or affect your concentration. Do not drive until you know how it affects you.
Glucobay M 25 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Glucobay M 25 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.<br>Use of Glucobay M 25 Tablet is, however, not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advisable while you are taking this medicine.
Glucobay M 25 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Glucobay M 25 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.<br>Glucobay M 25 Tablet is generally started with low dose in patients with mild to moderate liver disease and its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
GI upset (nausea, diarrhea); rare risk of lactic acidosis.
Inform clinician about kidney problems; withhold around iodinated contrast when advised.
Tell your doctor about water tablets, steroids, and any contrast dye scan. Alcohol increases the risk of the rare acid build-up and should be limited. Low blood sugar is more likely when combined with insulin or a sulfonylurea.
Store below 25°C; protect from moisture.
