Glycimet 3C 80/500 mg Tablet

Glycimet 3C 80/500 mg Tablet contains Gliclazide 80 mg + Metformin Hydrochloride 500 mg (tablet). Prescription required.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (to improve blood sugar control when diet and exercise alone are not sufficient)

Gliclazide (a sulfonylurea) increases insulin release from the pancreas and helps lower blood glucose. Metformin (a biguanide) decreases glucose production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity, reducing blood sugar levels.

Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed, usually with meals to reduce stomach upset. Swallow whole with water; do not crush/chew unless advised. Regularly monitor blood glucose; do not skip meals to avoid low sugar.

Hypoglycaemia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, headache, dizziness, metallic taste, weight gain

Risk of hypoglycaemia (higher with missed meals, heavy exercise, alcohol, or other antidiabetics); carry glucose/sugar source. Metformin may rarely cause lactic acidosis—seek urgent care for rapid breathing, severe weakness, abdominal pain, or unusual sleepiness. Use with caution in kidney or liver impairment and in the elderly; kidney function should be assessed periodically. Temporarily stop metformin before/after iodinated contrast procedures and major surgery as advised by doctor. Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Alcohol, insulin/other antidiabetics (increased hypoglycaemia), beta-blockers (mask hypoglycaemia), corticosteroids (raise glucose), thiazide/loop diuretics (raise glucose), ACE inhibitors (may increase hypoglycaemia), NSAIDs/salicylates (increase sulfonylurea effect), cimetidine (increases metformin levels), iodinated contrast media (lactic acidosis risk), quinolones (glucose disturbances)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
