Glycivas M 60 mg OD Tablet

Glycivas M 60 mg Od Tablet contains Gliclazide modified release 60 mg + Metformin (strength unknown). Prescription required.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (to control blood glucose in adults) when diet and exercise alone are not sufficient; especially in patients requiring combination therapy of sulfonylurea + metformin.

Gliclazide (MR) is a sulfonylurea that stimulates insulin release from pancreatic beta cells, thereby lowering blood glucose. Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity, helping the body use glucose more effectively.

Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily (OD) with breakfast or the first main meal; swallow whole (do not crush/chew, especially if modified-release). Take with food to reduce stomach upset; monitor blood sugar regularly.

Hypoglycaemia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, headache, dizziness, weight gain, rash

Risk of hypoglycaemia (more likely with missed meals, alcohol intake, strenuous exercise, elderly, kidney/liver impairment); do not skip meals. Metformin may rarely cause lactic acidosis—seek urgent care for rapid breathing, severe weakness, abdominal pain, or drowsiness. Use caution/avoid in severe renal impairment, severe liver disease, alcoholism, dehydration, severe infection, shock, or hypoxic states. Temporarily stop metformin before/after iodinated contrast procedures and major surgery as advised. Inform doctor if pregnant/planning pregnancy; may require insulin. Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Alcohol (increases hypoglycaemia and lactic acidosis risk), insulin/other antidiabetics (additive hypoglycaemia), beta-blockers (mask hypoglycaemia symptoms), corticosteroids and thiazide/loop diuretics (raise glucose), ACE inhibitors (may increase hypoglycaemia), quinolone antibiotics (affect glucose), cimetidine (raises metformin levels), iodinated contrast media (kidney risk/lactic acidosis), NSAIDs (may affect glucose and renal function)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
