Monograph
I-Glow Gel is used for this medicine is used. Prescription required.
This medicine is used in the treatment of dry skin, eczema, skin barrier repair, itching due to dryness, skin conditions, skin care, nutritional deficiency, dietary supplementation, support during recovery, antioxidant supplementation, vitamin b deficiency, nerve pain and tingling, anaemia and tiredness due to deficiency.
This medicine combines 9 active ingredients: Aloe Vera, Allantoin, Kojic Acid, Octinoxate, Arbutin, Licorice, Glycolic Acid, Vitamin e and Niacinamide. Aloe Vera holds water in the skin and restores the barrier that dry, damaged skin has lost. Allantoin holds water in the skin and restores the barrier that dry, damaged skin has lost. Kojic Acid acts on the skin to treat or soothe the condition it is prescribed for. Octinoxate acts on the skin to treat or soothe the condition it is prescribed for. Arbutin acts on the skin to treat or soothe the condition it is prescribed for. Licorice supplies a vitamin, mineral or nutrient that your diet may not be providing in sufficient amount. Glycolic Acid acts on the skin to treat or soothe the condition it is prescribed for. Vitamin e supplies a nutrient that helps protect body cells from everyday oxidative wear and supports normal immune function. Niacinamide replaces a B vitamin your body needs to make red blood cells, to keep nerves healthy and to release energy from food.
Clean and dry the affected area, then apply a thin layer and rub it in gently. Wash your hands before and after use, unless your hands are the area being treated. This is for use on the skin only — do not swallow it. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.
Mild stinging on broken skin, Greasy feel, Rarely, a rash, Local irritation, Redness, Itching, Dryness, Nausea, Constipation, Stomach upset, Loose motions, Metallic taste, Harmless bright yellow urine
Apply generously and often — several times a day, and always within a few minutes of a bath while the skin is still damp. Some paraffin-based emollients are flammable when they soak into clothing and bedding. Keep away from open flames and cigarettes. Stop if the skin becomes more red, itchy or sore after use. For external use only, unless the pack says otherwise. Stop if the skin becomes more irritated, and see a doctor if the condition worsens or spreads. Do a small test patch first if you have sensitive skin. A supplement is not a substitute for a balanced diet or for treating the cause of a symptom. Iron makes stools black and can cause constipation — this is expected, but tell your doctor if it troubles you. Keep iron-containing products well out of reach of children; an overdose in a small child is a medical emergency. Check the labels of everything you take so you do not double up on the same nutrient. A supplement supports a normal diet; it does not prevent or treat infection. Zinc on an empty stomach commonly causes nausea — take it with food. Very high doses of vitamin A over a long period can be harmful, particularly in pregnancy. Do not take several products containing the same nutrient at once; the totals add up. Tingling, numbness or burning in the hands and feet should be assessed by a doctor rather than self-treated — a supplement does not address the cause. Folic acid can mask a vitamin B12 deficiency while nerve damage continues, so B12 should be checked before taking folic acid long term. Bright yellow urine after a B-complex dose is expected and harmless.
No significant interactions are expected. No significant interactions are expected from preparations used on the skin. Iron, calcium, zinc and magnesium reduce the absorption of thyroid tablets and several antibiotics — separate them by a few hours. Tea and coffee taken with iron reduce how much is absorbed; vitamin C increases it. Zinc and other minerals reduce the absorption of some antibiotics — separate them by a few hours. Tell your doctor if you take a blood thinner, as high-dose vitamin E can add to its effect. Long-term metformin, acid-reducing medicines and some anti-epileptics lower B12 or folate levels. Tell your doctor if you take levodopa, as vitamin B6 can reduce its effect.
Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Close the cap tightly after each use. Keep out of the reach of children.
