Obetohep 5 mg Tablet contains Obeticholic acid (5mg) and is used for cholestatic liver diseases. Prescription required.

Obetohep 5 Tablet stimulates Farnesoid X receptor (fxr), a chemical that regulates synthesis and transport of bile acid, lipid metabolism and regulation of glucose levels. Obetohep 5 Tablet inhibits bile acid synthesis and increases bile acid secretions. This reduces the bile acid pool in the liver and hence prevents its toxic effects. Therefore, it helps to improve liver function.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Obetohep 5mg Tablet may be taken with or without food.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

A liver supplement does not treat the cause of liver disease. Alcohol, weight, viral hepatitis and medicines are what have to be addressed. Stop alcohol completely if you have any liver condition. Report yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, swelling of the abdomen or confusion without delay. Keep your liver function tests and follow-up appointments.
